Pecan Sandies


First prize at the 2009 Randolph Fair! 
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 cup sugar
 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup chopped pecans (we use ground pecans... highly recommended!) 
White sugar

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream butter and sugar. Mix together dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. Chill 1/2 hour. Shape into 1 inch balls; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Flatten balls to 1/3 inch with the bottom of a glass (slightly moisten the bottom) which has been dipped in sugar. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
