If you happen to be dropping by our home in the Fall, you will probably be asked to stay for dinner. And if you stay for dinner, you will probably be served dessert as well. And if you are served dessert, we will probably serve you a plate of this delicious apple pie. And if you have a bite, you will probably ask for a glass of milk to go with it(fresh cows milk, yes?).

This IS our families favorite recipe for Apple Pie, and we do make it often!
Sit down and let me dish you up a piece!
Makes: 1- 9 or 10 inch pie ... My family doubles this to make a 9x13" pie
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 cups (about 10 medium) thinly slices apples
2 Tablespoons butter
Pastry for 9 inch - 1 crust pie
Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt. Spread apples in a 9 or 10 inch glass pie pan. Sprinkle generously with sugar mixture. Dot with butter. Top with pie crust:
Oil Pastry Crust
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup oil
3-4 Tablespoons cold water
Measure flour and salt into a bowl. Add oil and mix until resembles small peas. Sprinkle in water 1 Tablespoon at a time (if dough is dry, add oil - never add water). Gather dough together, press firmly into ball. Roll out between 2 sheets of wax paper. Remove top sheet, carefully pick up bottom and drape over pie (at this point you could cut a fancy design before draping over pie). Peal the wax paper off the crust. Put slits in crust.
Bake at 425 f for about 1 hour until juice begins to bubble through slits in crust. Serve warm. Yummy!:-)
